Prosecution may follow should an accident on your premises result in injury from unsafe glazing, and you may not be covered by insurance. these regulations are also incorporated into Building Regulations BS6262 Part 4, Safety, Human Impact.

Building control - safety glazing

From 1st June 1992, any glass fitted in a 'critical location' to new buildings shall comply with Approved Document N of the Building Regulations 1991.

The following locations may be considered 'critical' in terms of safety:
  • Between finished floor level and 800mm above that level in internal and external walls and partitions
  • Between finished floor level and 1500mm above that level in a door or in a side panel, close to either edge or the door
